Thunderbird

Tlanuwa, the mythical Thunderbird of ancient legend, is a colossal, awe inspiring being born of stormclouds and forged in lightning. Revered by the Cherokee and other Indigenous peoples of the Southeastern Woodlands, Tlanuwa is no ordinary bird, it is a sky dwelling force of nature, with wings that span mountains and eyes that shimmer like stormlit skies. With every beat of her wings, thunder rolls across the heavens; with every cry, bolts of lightning crack the earth below.

She is a guardian, a warrior, and a sacred mystery believed to dwell high in the most unreachable cliffs, where mortal feet dare not tread. Some say she commands the tempests, driving away evil spirits and punishing those who upset the balance of the world. Others believe she is a protector of the righteous, soaring above the land in search of harmony and justice.

Tlanuwa’s feathers are said to shimmer with the color of stormy twilight, edged in silver-blue lightning, and her talons hold the strength to tear through stone. Yet for all her raw power, she is also a creature of profound wisdom, watching over the land not with wrath, but with purpose. She does not strike without reason. She does not descend without cause.

To witness Tlanuwa in flight is to witness the breath of the storm itself, wild, divine, and alive. She reminds us that power and protection are not opposites, that rage can be righteous, and that within the heart of every storm is a moment of stillness and truth.

In a world that often forgets the voices of the sky, Tlanuwa continues to soar, an eternal emblem of nature’s might, mystery, and unwavering spirit.
